Learn coding skills

Our world is increasingly reliant on computers and digital information, and the digital economy is growing rapidly in the UK and internationally. This means that graduates with coding and programming skills are in high demand from today's employers.

All our courses include a module where you'll learn how to code, honing your skills in our well-equipped PC labs.

We also offer a BSc Mathematics with Computer Science degree which allows you to develop your computational skills in more depth.

Your career

Our graduates progress into a range of exciting careers. Overall, 92% of graduates from Mathematics and Statistics are in work or further study within 15 months of graduation (based on our analysis of HESA data © HESA 2023, Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020/21; includes first degree Mathematics and Statistics responders).

Graduates have gone on to work at organisations such as:

  • PepsiCo
  • BBC
  • Bank of East Asia
  • BAE Systems
  • Cabinet Office
  • National Health Service (NHS)
  • Office For National Statistics
  • IBM
  • Amazon Prime Air
  • Barclaycard.

We ensure that you have the opportunity to develop the transferable skills that employers are looking for, particularly through our dedicated skills-based modules.

We support our students to gain vital real-world work experience. All our courses are available with a placement year in industry, and we encourage all students to seek out relevant short placements between academic terms. We have a thriving work shadowing programme. We also offer a number of volunteering opportunities such as delivering outreach sessions in schools, which are perfect for those thinking of pursuing a career in teaching.

Doing a placement is a great opportunity to meet new people and experience working life. You also get time to think about where you want your career to go, and decide if your placement is in the industry which satisfies you the most.
