BSc Mathematics

This course is intended for those who are looking for a good and rounded mathematical education leading to a wide variety of career opportunities, but who do not require the volume of specialist material necessary for the professional mathematician. The first two years, in common with MMath, provide the foundations of core mathematics, both pure and applied, after which there is a range of topics, including a variety of options, designed to give an overview of mathematics and its applications.

Transferable skills

The University's Strategy for Teaching and Learning has identified a number of generic transferable skills which all students are expected to have developed by the end of their degree course. By the end of the course you will have gained experience and show competence in the following transferable skills: IT (word-processing, using standard and mathematics software), scientific writing, oral presentation, team-working, problem-solving, use of library resources, time-management, and career management and planning.
