Study support
As a new student at Reading, you will be assigned a Supervisor, if you are a postgraduate research student, or a Personal Tutor, if you are a masters or undergraduate student. S/he will support you in your studies and help you with academic or personal problems.
Your Personal Tutor is one of the most important people you will meet during your studies at Reading. He or she will normally be a member of the academic staff of your Department and will help you to settle into Reading and make the most of your time here. Available to advise and support you throughout your studies, you will meet him/her within the first weeks of arriving at Reading and s/he will help you with any academic or personal difficulties that may affect your progress.
You may also turn to our academic advisers for support. These include Course Advisers and our Study Skills Advisers who provide open workshops on study methods as well as individual consultations, where appropriate. Our Study Adviser will also provide psychological testing for students with dyslexia or other learning problems. For new international students we provide cross-cultural support of all kinds through our Adviser to International Students.
