Additional grants available to full-time students with adult dependants in 2011/12

If you have an adult who is financially dependent on you and you are a full-time undergraduate (or Postgraduate Certificate of Education) student you may qualify for extra financial help on top of the standard student finance package.

The Adult Dependants' Grant

The Adult Dependants' Grant could pay up to £2,642 if you are a full-time student with an adult who depends on you financially (usually a partner or a member of your family other than a grown-up son or daughter). The amount you can get depends on the income that you and your dependant will receive during the 2011/12 academic year. This grant does not have to be paid back and is paid in three instalments, one at the start of each term. You can apply for this grant by completing the relevant sections of the 'Application for student finance' (PN1) form and providing supporting documentation.
