Family accommodation

Family enjoying campus

The University has some dedicated family accommodation which is aimed at mature single students, couples and families.

The accommodation consists of houses converted into rooms and self-contained flats, and also purpose-built flatlets which are located in areas of some of the Halls.

The accommodation benefits from 24 hour Security cover which is provided by the University Security team. Welfare and pastoral support is also available from a Warden who works alongside the management team.

Heating, lighting and water charges are included in the price and only Council Tax (if applicable) is payable separately. Rents are due quarterly in advance. Limited car parking may be available in some of the properties and a parking permit can be applied for once you have been offered the accommodation.

The facilities provided and the location of the properties (close to the University campus with access to local shops, banks and bus routes to the town centre) make these properties popular and waiting lists are often long, so it may take some time before we are able to offer you suitable accommodation. As we cannot guarantee to provide University family accommodation for the start of your course our strong advice is to come to Reading without your family until you have found suitable accommodation.

How to apply for family accommodation

Please note that students requiring accommodation for a couple or family must submit their application for accommodation online. However, the options are very individual so the Off-site Housing Team will then contact you to discuss options.

If you wish to discuss the options before you make your application, please feel free to email the Off-site housing team at northcourt@reading.ac.uk or telephone 0118 378 4982.

If you have any queries regarding your application please email accommodationonline@reading.ac.uk  or telephone 0118 378 4203.
