Members of the Lord Zuckerman Research Centre and RSSL: using the Library
Members of the Lord Zuckerman Research Centre and Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) are welcome to use the Library for reference and private study. This includes access to all printed material on the open shelves. When visiting please sign the Visitors' Book at the Reception Desk on arrival.
Joining the Library
There is no charge for members of the Lord Zuckerman Research Centre and RSSL wishing to join the Library. To apply:
- Complete an External borrower application form (PDF)
- Bring it and a letter from the HR department confirming your status and dates of fixed term contracts to the Ground Floor Information Desk between 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Thursday or 10:00 - 17:00 on Friday
Borrowing
You will be given an External borrowers card which enables you to borrow:
- five Standard loan items
- these can be borrowed for up to three weeks
- you will be fined 80p per day for late return
Using Unicorn's self-service features
When you register you will be given a PIN which you can use to access the self-service features on the Unicorn catalogue, such as renewing your loans, placing holds (on Standard loan items only), and viewing your account.
Access to e-resources
You will not be able to access most e-resources. Most of our licence agreements cover only current students and staff of the University of Reading.
