Placing a hold

You can place a hold on (reserve) books that are on loan to other people using Unicorn.

1. Search for the item on the catalogue.
2. If all the copies are on loan click on the Place hold option in the list on the left-hand-side of the screen.
3. If you haven't already logged in to Unicorn you will prompted to do so.
   - University members enter your University username and password.
   - Non-members enter your Library number and PIN. What is my PIN?
4. You can also set an expiry date for your hold, if the book is needed by a certain date.
5. Click on the Place Hold button

When a copy is available for you to collect you will be notified by email. You can also check your account in Unicorn to see if your holds are available.

We will keep the item for seven days for you to collect.

• You can only have five holds at a time
• Please cancel your hold if you no longer need a book - other people might be waiting for it.
