Citing a radio/television programme or film

You should include the following information in your bibliography, the exact style will vary according to the citation system you are using

  1. Title of programme in italics 
  2. Name of person quoted 
  3. Year, in brackets 
  4. Episode in Series 
  5. Network 
  6. Date of transmission and possibly time

Examples

Yes, Prime Minister. (1986). Episode 1, The Ministerial Broadcast, BBC2, 16 Jan.
Blair, Tony. (1997). Interview. In: Panorama, BBC1, 3 Mar. 2200 hrs.

Film

You should include the following information in your bibliography, the exact style will vary according to the citation system you are using

  1. Director, surname and forename(s)
  2. Date of production, in brackets 
  3. Title of film, in italics 
  4. Country of production 
  5. Production company and distributor if known

Example

Ford, John. (1956). The Searchers. USA. C.V. Witney Picture. Warner Brothers.

The following shorter style is accepted by the University's Film, Theatre and Television department:

The Searchers (John Ford, USA, 1956)
