ScienceDirect: full-text articles in more than just the sciences

The Library subscribes to ScienceDirect, one of the most important collections of Science, Technical and Medical (STM) full-text electronic journals available. It offers access to just over 1900 titles. In most cases volumes from 1995 to the present are available, but note that ScienceDirect does not give access to all journals published by Elsevier.
Searching ScienceDirect
You can search ScienceDirect using the simple search from the homepage.
However, you can carry out a more controlled and specific search using the Advanced search function.
To get to Advanced search click on the 'Search' button at the top of the screen, then select the 'Journals' tab. You will see this search screen:
Advanced search allows you to search by more than one keyword, by author name, journal title and by the title of an article. You can limit a search to only those journals to which the Library subscribes, and by broad subject areas. You can also limit your search by type of document, to a date range (not forgetting that the earliest date to which we have full-text access is 1995), or to a particular volume or issue of a journal.
More than science, technology and medicine...
The name ScienceDirect suggests that all the journals available cover the Sciences, but this is not the case.
The Freedom Collection also includes Business and Management titles, as well as a number from the Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences.
