E-books

E-books are usually online versions of existing printed book titles, though very occasionally they only exist electronically. University members can access online titles to which the Library subscribes, and there are also some collections of freely available e-books.

In addition, the Library has a number of Online dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference sources, useful for starting projects and essays.

Finding e-books on the Library catalogue Unicorn

We try to list and link to all e-books we have paid to access on the Unicorn catalogue. Search Unicorn by author and title to see if your book is available online or held in print.

To search for e-books on a topic on Unicorn:

  1. Type your topic in the search box
  2. Check the "Find only online resources" box underneath the search box

This will limit your search to internet resources (books and journals).

To see a list of our major e-book subscriptions go to our E-book services we subscribe to page.

Printing / Saving from e-books

For legal reasons, it is not usually possible to print or save more than a chapter of a title which is still in copyright. Refer to copyright information on the individual supplier pages for further information, or contact your subject liaison librarian.

Help using e-books
