Accessing e-resources

On-campus

If you are on campus you will be able to access most e-journals and e-books, and some databases, without entering a username and password because your IP address identifies you as being at the University of Reading.

For any that require a login, see Off-campus guidance below.

Off-campus

Library resources use the same login system as Blackboard and Office365, so you will often be taken seamlessly into our resources even when you are off-campus.

When accessing resources via the Library website if your login is not picked up automatically you will usually be prompted to sign in. Once you have reached the sign on page just enter your University username and password. Most usernames will consist of two letters, six numbers, and your email suffix - for example ab123456@reading.ac.uk or ab123456@student.reading.ac.uk.

If you access resources via a search engine you will need to look for an institutional or shibboleth login option and pick 'University of Reading' from a list of institutions. This will direct you to the sign on page. More about the Institutional login.

If you are unable to view this video on YouTube it is also available on YuJa - view the Logging in to the Library video on YuJa (University username and password required)
