Download the Reading Athens Cookie
Click on the above link to install the Cookie. Make sure the box next to 'Remember this Institution on this computer' is ticked then click on 'Go' to set your Cookie.
What happens once I have the cookie?
Once you have the Cookie, whenever you try to access an Athens-controlled resource you will be directed to the Reading login page. Once you have logged in with your University username and password, you will be re-directed on to the resource.
Once you have picked up the Cookie, it will remain in your cookie folder on that machine. If you are using University PC facilities managed by IT Services the cookie will be stored in your personal settings and will be available from any of their PCs. If you use several machines you will need to pick up the Cookie on each machine.
Setting your browser (Internet Explorer) to allow cookies
- Go to the Tools menu
- Click Internet Options
- On the Privacy tab, make sure that the slider is set to 'Medium' or below.
