Off-prints collection

The Library can place up to two copies of set chapters and journal articles in the Course Collection, provided the item is already held by the Library or within a departmental library elsewhere in the University.

The item should not be readily available online.

Copyright limits mean that the following restrictions on copying apply:

  • no more than 5% of a book or one chapter (whichever is the greater)
  • no more than one complete article or 5% from a journal issue (whichever is the greater)
  • a paper or 5% from one set of conference proceedings, whichever is greater
  • one short story or one poem of not more than 10 pages or 5% from an anthology of short stories or poems, whichever is the greater

If the item is not available in the University Library or a departmental library, it may be possible to obtain a copyright cleared photocopy from the British Library. The copyright fee will be charged to the book fund for your School / Department.

Off-prints are added to the Unicorn catalogue as separate items and can be found by an author / title search. They are shelved next to the Folio Books in the Course Collection. They have a Call Number which starts PHOTOCOPY--X... You may want to quote this number on your reading lists.
