OA & RCUK funded research
Guidance on how you should comply
Read the guide to Open Access requirements for Research Council grants (PDF) to understand:
- which RCUK grants the policy applies to;
- which journals are compliant;
- eligibility of funding of APCs;
- how to apply for funding to cover the cost of APCs.
check Journal compliance with RCUK
Before requesting funds you will need to view the Open Access options for your journal to see if it complies with RCUK requirements.
Once you have found out that your journal complies with RCUK requirements you can apply to the University’s Open Access fund.
How to apply to the Open Access Fund
The Open Access fund can be used to cover publishers’ APCs for eligible articles resulting only from RCUK funded research, or which meet the essential criteria outlined on the Open Access publishing page.
Before completing the form, check if any of the APC discounts and deals listed on the Open Access publishing page apply to your journal.
To apply fill in the APC funding request form. Log in with your usual ITS username and password when prompted. For guidance see the instructions for completing the APC funding request form (PDF)
If your research originated in another institution or as a result of collaboration with another institution please read our FAQ on eligibility for Open Access funds for research at, or with, another institution.
