Problems?

To help us to support your use of these resources we recommend that you keep your machine as up-to-date as possible. We will try our best to help with any problems, but this can be difficult as each person's set-up is unique.

If you are having problems accessing e-resources please check that you have downloaded the Reading Athens cookie. If you still wish to report a problem, please fill in the E-resources problem report form

Your University Library Account

To borrow items from the University Library at Whiteknights campus you will need a Student Campus Card and you need to visit the Library in person to collect items as we do not offer postal loan services.

At present there is no service to transport printed items between the two sites. Any material that is borrowed will have to be picked up and returned to the originating site.

You can access your University Library account from off-campus to renew your loans, place holds, and view the progress of your holds. Login with your University username and password.

Using other UK university libraries

As a member of the University of Reading you may be able to use other university libraries. For more information see our page on using other libraries and on joining the SCONUL Access scheme.

You will need to have collected your Student Campus Card and enrolled for the SCONUL Access scheme at the University Library at Whiteknights before visiting the other Library.

If you are a Distance Learner, and unable to visit the Library during office hours (09:00 - 16:45 Mon to Thu, 10:00 - 16:45 on Fridays), you can obtain your Student Campus Card and membership of SCONUL Access by emailing n.g.hollis@reading.ac.uk with the following details:

  • Your student number
  • Your University username
  • A return postal address (if you wish to have the card sent back to you)

In order to print the card we shall require a passport-style digital image of you. The image should be "head and shoulders" only and you should have the image taken in front of a plain, light-coloured background. The file should be saved in .jpeg format.
