How good does my language have to be to study in another European university?
Normally we require at least a grade 'B' at A level to study in France, Germany or Spain. Your language skills do not have be perfect, but bear in mind that lectures and small group meetings will conducted in the language of the "host" university, as will your written assignments. You may choose to take a language option in your first year of study here.
Can I study abroad if I am not proficient in a foreign language?
Yes, you can study in the University of Maastricht (Holland), the University of Uppsala (Sweden) and the University of Trento (Italy) where a number of courses are conducted in English.
Where will I stay while living abroad?
Normally, the Accommodations Office of the "host" university will be responsible for recommending accommodation. This may be in a hall of residence, sharing a house with other students, or lodging with a local family.
Is there any extra grant for studying abroad?
Yes, the European Commission provides additional funding for those studying abroad which covers the costs of travelling to and from your university during the vacations and some additional living expenses. The money is allocated by the "home" university. The exact sum varies depending on the total grant issued to the University and the numbers of students entitled to receive it.
