Responsibilities:

Dr Martha-Marie Kleinhans has been at the School of Law since September 2002

Her pioneering work in teaching and learning has been recognized by her having been shortlisted for the prestigious UK Law Teacher of the Year Award 2009. University-wide recognition of the work she does is evident in the awards and opportunities she has received, most recently by the award of a University Teaching Fellowship  and her promotion to Faculty Director of Teaching & Learning of Social Sciences.

Biographical Details:-

Dr. Kleinhans joined the School of Law as a lecturer at the University of Reading in 2002, becoming a senior lecturer in 2007. Educated in Quebec and the United States, she brings a diverse personal and juridical background to her research. She came from a previous career in film and community radio. Her primary area of research explores issues of legal identity and subjectivity. Her Ph.D., from the University of London, reconceptualised the nature of the legal subject in contemporary law by developing the insights of legal pluralism and narrative theory.
