Wireless Communications

Work on deterministic equalization and results of a DVB-T multipath equalizer resulted in the IEEE Chester Sall award to Dr Sherratt (best 2004 paper, IEEE Trans Consumer Electronics). Work on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communications baseband yielded fully compliant synthesisable transmitter/receiver models and this won the best paper award in the IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics 2006. A collaboration with Fulcrum Communications Systems, in which adaptive signal processing was used to attenuate siren noise found in emergency vehicle communications, won the TCS Best Engineering Programme Award 2000, hosted in 2001.

Microphone array technology for speech tracking in noisy environments has being developed under a further TCS with Fulcrum.
