Association of the University Language Centre 12th Annual ConferenceAULC and AGM: Enhancing Quality

Welcome to the homepage of the 12th AULC Conference and AGM. AULC is an organisation for all staff working in HE language departments and centres in the UK and Ireland. Around 80 Universities are currently members. The Annual Conference give its members a platform for presenting and discussing issues relating to the Association's aims (http://www.aulc.org/aims.html), including innovation in the teaching and learning of languages, enhancement of standards and quality assurance and effective management of resources. The Association facilitates contacts among members nationally and internationally and the conference provides the perfect opportunity to network and exchange information among members.

Conference location

The 12th AULC Conference will be held at the University of Reading on its main campus,

Whiteknights, a short walk or bus ride from the town centre and Reading station, and easy access from the M4. A bus service with a stop outside the station (20, 20a and 21) takes you directly onto campus in 10 minutes (buses every 7 mins at peak times).

Registration

To register please submit a registration form on-line. You will get an email to confirm that your registration has been processed. On the first day of the conference come to the registration table in the HumSS building room 222 to collect your conference pack.

Travel

The University of Reading Campus is very easy to reach both from Reading Station and the M4. Click here to view directions on the University's website .

Parking on Campus

Delegates are encouraged to choose public transport to travel to campus. However, a number of parking spaces will be allocated in Car Park 2 (Click here to view a map of Whiteknights Campus PDF).

Delegates booked into Black Horse House for their overnight stay can use Black Horse House a limited number of dedicated car parking facilities (a special BBH parking permit will be provided in your delegate pack ). Please ensure you notify to us you intend to travel by car when you register.

Fees

There are no conference fees. Lunch, dinner and refreshments are generously offered by our sponsors. Delegates will need to fund their overnight accommodation.

Accomodation

A small number of rooms are available on campus in the central Black Horse House. Single rooms B&B for £43.33, a few twins B7B £61.82. To make your booking contact Black Horse House directly and quote the AULC conference.

Alternatively you can try the following hotels, both in the town centre:

Premier Inns, Reading central(close to the Oracle shopping centre, 2.5 miles from campus)

Novotel (300 mt from the station, 2.6 miles from campus).

NB= no special deals are available for conference delegates, so we recommend you book asap.
