I am based in CSS within the Knight building and work alongside seven other Technicians to support Teaching and Research. I am involved in the support of the undergraduate SBS microbiology practical classes. This includes Laboratory lay out, preparation of bacterial cultures and solutions as well as equipment maintenance. As part of my role I also demonstrate in some of the practical classes.
I am the lead Technician for a second year module, Infectious Diseases. I am also a laboratory coordinator for two Virology research labs in the Knight Building. As lab coordinator I ensure new starters are ready to begin work by giving them a lab induction. I also keep an eye on Good lab practice and order consumables for the labs.
