Study Advice for postgraduates
Postgraduate students face many similar learning issues to undergraduates - for instance, preparing for examinations, managing your time, focusing your reading and research, and presenting your work in written, verbal and visual forms. Dealing with these issues at postgraduate level means developing new strategies to respond to higher academic expectations, more independent study, and other changes in personal and academic circumstances.
The University Study Advice team offers 30 minute or longer one-to-one advice sessions, workshops and other resources tailored to the study issues facing postgraduate students.
While some of the resources here are aimed specifically at research students, taught postgraduates may also find them helpful. In addition we suggest that you also browse through the following:
A list of our Study Guides, including giving presentations, referencing and avoiding plagiarism, and effective practice in note-taking and reading.
Our workshop programme, which is free and open to all students.
The Postgraduate Freshers webpages have lots of useful information about being a postgraduate student at Reading.
