International Student Adviser

Matt Daley has recently been appointed as International Student Adviser, in his new role based within the Advisory Team, Student Services. Matt can provide professional and confidential support to all international and EU students on:

  • Living in the UK - information and advice on areas such as how to help yourself and your family settle in the UK.
  • Welfare - information and advice on areas such as developing cultural awareness, recognising culture shock, personal and online safety.
  • Studying in the UK - information on areas such as the UK academic culture and developing independent learning.
  • Getting involved - information and advice on taking part in extracurricular activities such as joining sports clubs, societies, volunteering and the RED awards

Matt takes a lead role in co-ordinating and developing support and information provided on a wide range of issues within the University for international and EU students. As part of the role Matt will also be co-ordinating a programme of workshops and events tailored for international and EU students. These will provide opportunities for you to meet with other international students with whom you can share your experiences, and make friends with.

The issues and challenges facing international students can be daunting such as experiencing difficulties adjusting to life and study in the UK. The International Student Adviser is a point of contact for information and advice to help you have the best experience possible at Reading.

If you have any queries then please feel free to contact Matt or ask for him in the Carrington Building Student Services Help Desk.
