Supporting local partners with COVID-19
Tuesday, 24 March 2020
With the impact of COVID-19 growing by the day, we are talking to local partners about how the University to support their response.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research & Innovation, Parveen Yaqoob, is talking to senior NHS colleagues about what expertise, services and facilities we may able to offer to help this critical service. Car park space at London Road and Whiteknights campus will be made available to NHS and Royal Berkshire Hospital and there will be more to come.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching & Learning, Elizabeth McCrum, is leading on discussions with local schools about how we can support them following the government closure of schools on Friday. We are also finding ways to make our expertise available to parents and carers who now find themselves managing their children’s learning at home, starting with advice from Professor Helen Bilton from the Institute of Education and a free webinar on how parents and carers can support children with their worries during this difficult time.
Universities will have a critical role in helping their local communities through this pandemic, and we are keen to play our part.
