Strategic Estates Manager wins coaching award
Wednesday, 11 March 2020
We are very pleased to announce that Nigel Frankland, Strategic Estates Manager, has been named Coach of the Year at the 8th Annual Get Berkshire Active Awards. This is in recognition of the coaching Nigel does as a volunteer at Reading Canoe Club. He works with all ages and abilities from fitness paddlers to Olympic hopefuls and widens access by creating parings so paddlers with disabilities can participate.
Nigel said:
“I’m very proud to receive this award from Get Berkshire Active for my coaching work with Reading Canoe Club. Volunteering as coach is not without its rewards, I’ve come to enjoy the interaction and helping people develop as much as the activity itself. Let’s face it, it’s hard to beat laughter and smiles of children as feedback.
I’m also pleased to have introduced so many people to something that can be both relaxing and exhilarating, with the power to change their lifestyle, improve their social skills, widen horizons and create lasting memories and friendships.
Not a bad way to spend your spare time”
