Share your ideas with the VC
Tuesday, 07 January 2020
Do you have an idea that could improve our university? If so, the Vice-Chancellor would like to hear from you.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Van de Noort will hold four Surgery sessions over the coming weeks - these will be on 8 January, 6 February, 6 March and 31 March 2020. Each session will last 15 minutes and will take place in the Library café.
Places must be booked in advance - if you'd like to come along, please book online here. You can either talk to him directly or attend as a small group.
Ideally, suggestions should be linked to one of the four strategic principles of our new University Strategy - Community, Excellence, Sustainability and an Engaged University.
What are VC Surgery sessions?
The VC Surgery sessions were set up last year by Professor Van de Noort as a means of connecting with colleagues on what really matters in our everyday working lives, especially as we prepare to launch our new University Strategy. Hearing the views of colleagues from all parts of the University is a vital step in making sure that our new Strategy not only reflects our real priorities, but also makes it easier to live by our strategic principals further down the line.
Ideas shared so far
There have been some great ideas put forward in the Surgery sessions to date (many of which are being worked on as we speak). Some of the issues raised include:
- University Volunteering and the local community
- Colleague recognition and business improvement schemes
- Expanding coaching opportunities to students
- Supporting colleagues on maternity leave, and their line managers
We look forward to hearing more ideas from you and sharing the progress we make along the way. If you have any questions, please contact vc@reading.ac.uk.
