Health and Life Sciences Building - change of perimeter

colour photograph of exterior view of health and Life sciences building

Work on our new Health and Life Sciences building is progressing well. Colleagues who have passed by the site will have seen render covering the insulation to the two lift towers. The project has reached the point where the exterior perimeter of the site needs to be extended to allow certain work to proceed.

This will involve the current hoardings being removed and replaced with metal fencing. Some of this will replace the hoardings on the existing lines and will lead to no change. But to allow exterior works to progress the perimeter will be extended facing the Harry Nursten Building. In the picture below the new perimeter is marked in red and this will result in the closure of some footpaths. Footpath access to the Food ATP will be maintained until further notice and alternative footpath routes are suggested in the map below. Access to car park 13 will be unaffected by the changes.

With the completion of the exterior structure, internal works and service installation is continuing with construction scheduled to be completed in late 2019. The project  demonstrates the University commitment to 2026: TRANSFORM capital investment programme, with £60m being invested to bring about closer integration of the school.
