Campus Commerce Director among catering's top 20 influencers
Friday, 14 December 2018
It’s gratifying to see that our Director of Campus Commerce, Matthew White, had his work recognised by the Cost Sector Catering magazine being named in the Public Sector Catering Top 20 Most Influential People for 2018. Each year the magazine uses a panel of independent judges to create a list of the most influential from across the industry as well as individuals who have contributed or championed public sector catering.
A round table event was held at The Houses of Parliament on the 11th of December where the Public Sector Catering Top 20 gathered to discuss the issues that public sector caterers will face in the next 12 months. The event was followed by a reception and lunch to mark the awards.
We caught up with Matthew and he had this to say:
“I am very humbled to have been honoured in this way, the award is primarily for the work I do as Chairman of The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO), a role I have held since 2016. TUCO is a membership organisation for in-house owned and operated higher and further education caterers. The organisation runs procurement frameworks with a national spend of approximately £140m per annum and also has its own academy to deliver learning and development to caterers across the nation.
“The University has always closely aligned itself with TUCO and is often cited as an example of best practice in our work. The award also marks my work here are Reading, where I have held various roles over the past 26 years, starting as a commis chef through to my current role as Director of Campus Commerce. This is a great testimony for University catering and the work we do to enhance student experience and underpin and help sustain our whole University Community through our catering and hospitality operations.”
