Endowment funding available for events
Friday, 30 November 2018
The University’s Endowment Fund supports staff and students running departmental, school or function events involving the public or external stakeholders. Funds up to £1,000 per event are awarded by the Acting Vice-Chancellor following a bidding process.
Many events have been supported through successful bids; the fund has been particularly helpful where school or function funding may be limited or unavailable.
Recent events supported by the fund include:
- ‘Heroines of Science’ event in celebration of International Women’s Day, promoting work carried out by female scientists and University staff/students. It provided a networking opportunity for visitors to meet with University staff and students to discuss current research activities.
- ’Colours More than Sentences’ event delivered with a local partner in the Record Office to mark the 120th anniversary of the first publication of Wilde’s great poem.
- Augmented Humanity II event in celebration of Science Week (March 2018), Women’s Day (March 2018) and Safer Internet Day (February 2018) with a focus on: How can we communicate emotions using robotic technology? How do these programs then influence communication protocols?
The fund is now inviting applications for events taking place from the start of the Spring term to the end of the Summer term. You can bid for up to £1,000 by completing this short form explaining the objectives, focus and benefits of your event, and emailing it to the Vice-Chancellor's office.
The closing date for applications is Friday 4 January 2019. We will aim to notify applicants of their success by Monday 14 January 2019.
Approved funding will be allocated directly to the department, school, or function budget. A short post-event evaluation will be required.
Please contact the Vice-Chancellor's office if you have any queries.
