Migrants, monsters and independence: autumn at Reading Film Theatre

Reading Film Theatre autumn 2017

Julie Dash’s Daughters of the Dust

Autumn is here – and with the cold nights drawing in, what better time to get cosy with a good film after work?

Reading Film Theatre has announced the line-up for their autumn programme – as well as the usual supply of great independent and foreign films, there’ll also be several special events and screenings:

  • Monsters Film Festival – sink your teeth into a trio of gothic classics, The Golem, Nosferatu, and Freaks. Held in partnership with the University of Reading.
  • Daughters of the Dust (remastered) –Julie Dash’s landmark portrayal of migration will be shown as part of Black History month at the University of Reading.
  • India on Film – a special season of films exploring the wealth and diversity of Indian culture, in celebration of 70 years of India’s independence. Held in collaboration with the British Film Institute and the Independent Cinemas Office.
  • Random Acts Presents – a joint initiative between Arts Council England, Channel 4 Random Acts and National Network Centres, showcasing short films by some of the best young artists and filmmakers.
