Teaching & Learning Deans Dr Elizabeth McCrum and Dr David Carter have become Principal Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Principal Fellowship recognises the highest levels of commitment and contribution to student learning. While there are currently over 81,000 HEA Fellows in the UK and internationally, the number of members awarded Principal Fellow status reaches just below 650.

Dr Elizabeth McCrum and Dr David Carter now join a small, but very prestigious group, recognised for their outstanding standards of teaching leadership. HEA are committed to working in further partnership with its Principal Fellows to help promote excellence in teaching and learning in higher education.

Professor Gavin Brooks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, said:

“I am delighted that Dr David Carter and Dr Elizabeth McCrum have each been awarded a Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. This prestigious award, the highest accorded by the HEA, recognises the strong leadership and key contributions that David and Elizabeth have made to high quality student learning, academic practice and academic development over many years here at Reading.  I offer my warmest congratulations to them both.”
