Pay & Display parking for carparks 1 and 1A from Monday 26 September

Pay & Display parking for carparks 1 and 1A from Monday 26 September

Pay & Display parking will be introduced to carparks 1 and 1A from Monday 26 September 2016.

Under the new system the first two hours of each stay will be free, followed by a charge of £3.10 for the rest of the day. Tickets must be obtained from the Pay & Display machines and displayed clearly, even if staying for under two hours.

There will be no changes to our current permit system– all permit holders will be able to park in both carparks for free as long as a valid permit is on display. For non-permit holders a valid ticket must be clearly displayed at all times, including for the first two free hours of a stay.

Both carparks are situated near the Queen’s Drive entrance and have been designed with the intent of providing additional parking on Whiteknights campus. Carpark 1 is for users of the Sports Park only while 1A is primarily used by visitors. Of course, colleagues who wish to park at 1A are more than welcome to do so. Students are not permitted to park in these areas.

As there are no changes to our permit procedures, it will still be possible to request visitor permits as and when necessary.

The Pay & Display machines will only take payment made by credit/debit card. The machines will not accept cash, campus card or mobile phone payments.

We know that parking on campus can be an issue for many, especially during peak commuting times. By offering more room for visitors in 1A, it should become easier for colleagues to arrange parking for guests in one convenient location.

For those looking to spend more than two hours on campus, the charge of £3.10 offers excellent value for money.

As part of the launch of the new Pay & Display system, we are keen for colleagues and visitors to share any feedback in order to help us identify future improvements. Please send feedback or general enquiries to Campus Parking at campusparking@reading.ac.uk.
