Professional and Administrative Services (PAS) review update

John Brady

We completed the matching process at the end of last week, and around 900 letters were sent out detailing the individual outcomes of the PAS review. Most of the letters were issued by early afternoon on Friday but I am aware that some colleagues had to wait longer to receive their letter than we would have liked. I apologise for any concern this may have caused.

The vast majority of colleagues will now have either been confirmed in their existing job or offered a match to a role in the new structures. We have already received a significant number of acceptances for proposed matches, but if you have received an offer and have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Equally, if you were expecting to receive a letter but haven't, please email us at PAS@reading.ac.uk

We have received a number of general queries relating to either next steps in the process or specific points relating to individuals. All such queries will be responded to as soon as possible, and we will also update the PAS FAQs.

We were unable to offer a match to 53 colleagues. I must stress again that the matching process required an 80% fit between current substantive role and new roles; not being matched only means that future roles are different to your current post.

Of the 53 mentioned above, 31 relate to roles in the new Finance structure which has undergone significant restructuring.

We will be initiating a further, specific round of consultation with these staff and their representatives, and we will work closely with them to identify suitable opportunities to continue working with the University.

We have several vacancies to fill by internal recruitment in the first instance, so there is every chance that suitable opportunities will be identified. Planning for the various recruitment processes is underway. A summary of the available roles is available on the main PAS webpage

If you have any further questions then please email to PAS@reading.ac.uk or contact the relevant HR Partner for the workstream. HR colleagues and I will continue to meet with staff with any particular concern.
