Internal funding
Internal funding is available from the University's Research Endowment Trust Funds (RETF). Research staff may apply for RETF travel grants, and for researchers in the social sciences to arts & humanities, small pump-priming grants are available.
External funding
External sources of funding available to research staff include:
- Fellowships
- Travel and small grants
- Research grants from Research Councils (as Co-Investigators or Researcher Co-Investigators)
- Research grants from the European Research Council (ERC)

Eligibility criteria for research staff applying for external funding differ depending on the sponsor and type of grant, as well as the stage the applicant has reached in their research career.
