Technology Transfer

The Technology Transfer Office provides expert advice and support to staff and students on all aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) management. IP can take many forms, ranging from patentable technologies to copyright material.

Some of the activities we undertake include:

• Identification, evaluation and protection of IP
• Assessment of the commercial value of IP 
• Management of the University's portfolio
• Help for individuals to identify and obtain sources of funding for development work
• Commercial exploitation of IP through licensing and spin-out companies
• Provision of advice on IP queries
• Training on IP-related topics
• Forming partnerships with companies for the exploitationof IP

There are many benefits to commercialising your research including increased exposure (raising your profile and encouraging collaboration), financial rewards and of course the benefit to society as your research becomes available to a wider audience
