Knowledge Transfer Centre

Is responsible for promoting, managing and developing knowledge transfer activities between companies, charities and academic experts at the University, comprising the following areas:

Business Development

The Business Development team encourages, promotes and supports two way engagements between the university, business and the wider community in order to stimulate income generation through consultancy, contract research, collaborative research and the cross-selling of other University activities.

Our support to academics includes:

  • Helping them to identify and engage with industry collaborators
  • Probing and definingcompany needs and matching them with university capabilities
  • Facilitating interaction between company and academicsto identify mutual interests and projects, and if relevant identify funding support mechanisms
  • Providingsupport and guidance on the development of business plans and marketing
  • Helping to ensure that an appropriate price is charged for their expertise and knowledge

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)

Is one of the most successful KTP offices in the UK, providing support to academics in developing and managing government funded partnerships with companies which enable knowledge transfer through the employment of a highly skilled graduate

Research Development research_Developmentpicture

Engages with Research Councils, the Technology Strategy Board and other agencies in order to understand their long term drivers and to provide foresight to the research planning process and academics in order to influence future research strategies. Also responsible for development of strategic relationships with Research Institutes and other universities

InnovationWorks@Reading InnovationWorksPicture

Is a custom built facility that provides bespoke workshops to support academics, schools and directorates in the development of new research and teaching proposals, enterprise activities or with any aspects of change or strategy development. It is also a useful tool to explore potential research proposals with business and other external collaborators
