About the Quality Support Office

The Quality Support Office is part of Student, Learning and Teaching Services (SLATS) within the Student and Academic Services Directorate and plays a major role in the development and implementation of the University’s Strategy for Learning and Teaching and its framework for managing and enhancing quality and standards.

The remit of the Quality Support Office is as follows:

  • To support the development, management, communication and implementation of institutional policy and procedure in relation to quality assurance and enhancement, and also to support other aspects of the University’s teaching and learning agenda;
  • To act as the institutional liaison body with the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). In particular, to manage QAA Institutional Reviews of the University and any other interactions with the Agency, including Audits of Overseas Partnership Arrangements and the Major Review of Healthcare Programmes;
  • To manage the publication of the University’s Programme Specifications database on the web and the provision of certain other elements of ‘Teaching Quality Information’ for an external audience;
  • To support the development, approval and ongoing management of programmes delivered in collaboration with partner institutions, both nationally and internationally;
  • To support and advise on the legal aspects of the development of formal and informal partnerships and links with external institutions and bodies, including the drawing up of Agreements and other Memoranda of Understanding;
  • To service the University Board for Teaching and Learning, and a number of its standing sub-committees.
