Teaching and Learning

The Faculty of Life Sciences is committed to high quality teaching and the provision of a stimulating and exciting learning environment for its students. This is overseen and managed via the Faculty Board for Teaching and Learning, which is responsible for ensuring the University's vision of 'providing an educational experience which is responsive to the needs of students and society at large within a welcoming and supportive learning and teaching community' is applied.

The Faculty has state of the art teaching spaces, laboratories and field sites which are used to facilitate first class learning. Many of the Faculty lecturers have professional teaching qualifications and are active researchers meaning that students are exposed to ideas at the forefront of knowledge in their discipline areas.

The Faculty Board for Teaching and Learning is responsible for the implementation of the University Quality Assurance policies in the context of the Faculty of Life Sciences. The Board is responsible for defining and monitoring the operation of all quality assurance procedures associated with the learning and teaching environment for both undergraduate and taught postgraduate degree programmes. This general remit includes ensuring uniformity of practice within the Faculty, and identifying and disseminating good practice.
