Student representation

The University values greatly the views of its students. Much feedback is channelled through Personal Tutors, Supervisors and Programme Directors, and via module and programme evaluation processes. In addition, student representation is an important route through which the University seeks to improve the services it offers.
Each School across the University has a Staff - Student Committee, whose role is to:
- Provide a formal channel for students to meet with staff in order to discuss the operation of their degree programme(s)
- Keep under review the aims and objectives of degree programmes
- Review issues relating to teaching and learning and student support
- Consider other matters including health and safety and resources such as equipment and library provision
The University works closely with Reading Students Union (RUSU), who provide advice and training to student representatives.
In addition, two Education Reps for each Faculty are elected each year to provide student representation on a number of Faculty and University-level committees, including the Joint Faculty Board for Teaching and Learning, the University Board for Teaching and Learning, and the University Senate.
