Teaching and Learning Materials
IT Services provide a variety of materials online via the WWW (World Wide Web) and on paper. These include self-teach materials such as our own teaching notes, Cheltenham Computer Training notes (restricted by username and password to University of Reading staff and students), and online tutorials.
The ITS training documents on the WWW are available via the ITS Training Notes link under Training Materials on the right, and include documents on:
- Office 2007 and 2003 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
- Email (Outlook, OWAmail)
- Web (Word, CMS)
The Cheltenham Computer Training notes are available via the Cheltenham Computer Training link under Training Materials on the right, and include notes on:
- Office 2007/2003 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher)
- Web (Internet Explorer 7, HTML 4, FrontPage 2003, DreamWeaver 4)
- Windows Vista/XP
- C
- Project 2007/2002
- Other Training (includes PaintShopPro 7, PageMaker 6.5, Photoshop 6)
The online tutorials are available on all IT Services PCs via the Teach Yourself group from the [start] button followed by All Programs - these include:
- A typing tutor (Accu-Type)
- Blackboard Basics (an introduction to this VLE - Virtual Learning Environment)
- ITS Getting Started PowerPoint presentation
Most materials are also available for (University of Reading) teaching. IT Services are happy for in-house documentation to be used (on-line or printed) or copied and adapted (subject to the copyright conditions). Some of the on-line tutorials (e.g. Accu-Type) are licensed for cross-campus use, and can be provided for departmental machines.
