Apps Anywhere – University of Reading

Apps Anywhere

Apps Anywhere is a virtualization system which allows applications (apps) to be streamed, cached and run on demand from a central hub, avoiding the need for traditional local installation.

This gives greater flexibility for students and staff to be able to access their apps from anywhere on campus including the library, labs and teachings spaces.

Students may also download and install the Cloudpaging Player to their own Windows computer and access the apps whilst on campus or in halls.

Getting Started

  1. Before accessing AppsAnywhere you will need to download the CloudPaging Player. Please follow the specific instructions for Staff and Students. You will need to follow the appropriate steps before AppsAnywhere works.
  2. After you have downloaded the CloudPaging Player head to https://appsanywhere.reading.ac.uk.

Note:

  • The first time an app is used on a PC it has to be streamed from the central hub so will be slightly slower to load, depending on the size of the app. Subsequently, it is loaded from cache on the PC.
  • Some apps have to be restricted according to the licence terms.
