Viewing your Web Pages

Files on the local or mounted disk drive can be viewed directly using the File - Open option on your browser. Files saved in a directory called public_html which should be within your home directory, can be viewed using the URL http://www.reading.ac.uk/~username/filename where filename is the name of the file.

To create a personal home page, you can use the method described in Publishing on the World-Wide Web. Briefly, this means placing a file called home.htm in the sub-directory public_html of your home directory will mean that the URL http://www.personal.reading.ac.uk/~username will pick up your home page automatically.
