I have a fixed term contract which ends part way through the annual leave year. How is my annual leave calculated?

All employees on a fixed term contract are entitled to a pro-rata'd amount of the full entitlement of annual leave, bank holidays and closure days for the period of time during which they work.

The system calculates you leave entitlement by taking the full year entitlement [35/39/40 days or 252/280.8/280 hours] and pro-rata's that to the number of full weeks you will work in the annual leave year.

Then, the system will 'schedule' bank holidays and closure days that are set to fall on your working days for the rest of the annual leave year. The number stated in ESS as 'Days/Hours available' is what is 'bookable' for you for the remainder of your contract term. Staff employed on a fixed term basis are expected to take annual leave accrued in the year in which their employment ends before the expiry of their contract.
