I joined the University part way through the annual leave year. How is my annual leave calculated?

All employees who join part way through the year are entitled to a pro-rata'd amount of the full entitlement of annual leave, bank holidays and closure days for the period of time during which they work.

The system calculates you leave entitlement by taking the full year entitlement [35/39/40 days or 252/280.8/280 hours] and pro-rata's that to the number of full weeks you will work in the annual leave year.

Then, the system will 'schedule' bank holidays and closure days that are set to fall on your working days for the rest of the annual leave year. The number stated in ESS as 'Days/Hours available' is what is 'bookable' for you for the remainder of the annual leave year.
