Accounting For Sales And How To Raise Invoices - A Practical Workshop

Outline: This course is aimed at administrators who are involved in any stage of the sales of goods and/or services to sundry (ie non student) customers. You will have the opportunity to set up customer accounts and raise invoices using the new Sales Order Processing system in Agresso Self Service which has been available for use since 1st June 2014.

The detail behind the process and how the Sales Order Processing and Credit Control teams are involved to help you raise invoices, record the income correctly and ensure that the account is paid promptly will be explained. 

International Travel: A Briefing On Financial And Safety Implications

Outline: The course gives an outline of financial, currency and insurance issues when travelling abroad on business for the University.

Who is it for?

Anyone travelling overseas on University Business, or arranging travel for others.

Following the session you will be able to:

  • understand aspects of making payments abroad
  • expenses and subsistence
  • local currency restrictions
  • travelling in difficult areas
  • the University's current travel insurance arrangement

VAT In The University

Outline: The course will give an update on recent changes in VAT legislation and how they affect the University. The course runs termly.

Who is it for?

All budget holders, staff responsible for costing new initiatives or contracts and all finance staff.

Following the session you will be able to:

  • Have an insight into the principles of VAT and its impact on the University
  • Be able to determine whether VAT is due on income you generate
  • Understand what VAT you will have to pay
  • Understand the significant cost VAT is to the University and the financial penalties arising from errors
  • Have an overview of how VAT impacts on research activities and projects
