Arrival at Reading

Representatives of the University will be at Reading Railway Station to greet you and help with any questions you might have. You will find these representatives close to the Railair coach drop off point between:
0900 and 1700 hours on Friday 1 October to Monday 4 October
If you have received notification of which Hall you will be living in then you should go directly there.
If you are still waiting for notification of which Hall you have been allocated, you should go to the Student Services Centre (Carrington Building) on the Whiteknights campus where staff will be available to help you during the day time. (See below for details if arriving when the Student Services Centre is closed).
Travel to Campus/Hall
You will find taxis outside Reading Railway Station who can take you to your accommodation.
As a guide, a taxi from the station to campus should cost about £8.If you have very little luggage you may travel by bus. Bus numbers 9, 19, 20 & 21 run from Reading Railway Station to the University (Whiteknights campus). Numbers 19, 20 & 21 stop on campus. Bus numbers 12 or 14 run from Reading station to the Bulmershe Court campus. All of these buses leave from stand SK at the station. Number 19 links Whiteknights Campus with Bulmershe Court Campus.
A single journey will cost £1.70 and you must have the correct money. No change is given.

If you are using a satellite navigation system or GPS to navigate to campus make sure you use the postcode RG6 6UR to reach Whiteknights campus or RG6 1HY for reaching Bulmershe Court campus.
Please note that University offices are closed on Saturday and Sunday. The Halls of Residence, Student Services Centre and Welcome Desks will be open at key times during the weekend.
Accommodation for students without a hall place:
If you have no accommodation already organised, you should go to the Student Services Centre in the Carrington Building (Building 135 on map of Whiteknights campus)
If you arrive when the Student Services Centre is closed go to the Security Office on the ground floor of Whiteknights House*, at the entrance near the car park, where you will be given emergency accommodation (Building 27 on map of Whiteknights campus)
* Please make sure the taxi brings you to Whiteknights House and not Whiteknights Hall which is a different building.
