Before you arrive

Students walking through Whiteknights CampusIf you are starting a course at Reading in September or October you are bound to have numerous questions, concerns and perhaps anxieties about your forthcoming experience. There are links in this section with information on how to deal with the transition to university. There is practical and personal advice as well as some tips on what and what not to expect so that you are at least partially prepared for some of what lies ahead.

Enrol

Enrolment at the University is online. All students can enrol online. Once you have completed the online enrolment process, you will be able to obtain your University email address (username and password).

Freshers' Week

There is a whole programme of events and activities scheduled for Freshers' Week and you will be sent a Welcome Booklet for your Faculty which includes information on Freshers' Week. Familiarise yourself with the Welcome Booklet and with the events before you arrive here so that you know which sessions are available to you.

Give yourself some time

The main thing to remember is that you don't need to know everything about university life before you arrive or even in the first week! Give yourself some time and space to settle in. Part of the university experience is finding your way and discovering new things as and when you need to.
