About us

The Centre for the Development of Teaching and Learning provides a range of support, information Girl with bookand advice for the development and enhancement of teaching and learning at the University of Reading. We aim to support staff to provide a stimulating and challenging educational experience, responsive to the needs of students and to foster a welcoming and supportive learning and teaching community.

The Centre offers a variety of opportunities to support staff, helping them to advance their ideas of teaching at an individual and School level. We make a significant contribution to staff training and development in the University, offering bespoke training events to Schools and contributing to the central CSTD programme, particularly to the PGCAP programme.

The CDoTL team co-ordinates and supports the development of a number of teaching networks such as the School Directors of Teaching and Learning, School e-Learning Co-ordinators and Senior Tutors. We also work closely with a variety of colleagues across the University, including academics and support staff in Schools and Departments, ITS, Study Advice, the Library, Careers Advisory Service and RUSU.

We support a number of initiatives in learning, teaching and assessment, and the use of e-learning to support these. As our team has expanded, so has our expertise and we are able to advise on a wide variety of issues including: assessment and feedback, e-learning, reflective learning, PDP, linking teaching and research and applying for funding for teaching and learning projects.

We look forward to hearing from staff from across the University whether for general information and guidance or a specific request or to explore a possible development or project. We are equally keen to hear from staff involved in any teaching and learning development or project and finding more of your examples of good and innovative practice.
