Personal Tutorial System
Being a Personal Tutor is a crucial aspect to the role of most academic members of staff here at
Reading. It is recognised that the duties and responsibilities which come with being a Personal Tutor can be time consuming, emotionally draining and can at times lead to you needing support from the University. This support can come in various forms:
- Faculty Senior Tutors
- School Directors of Teaching and Learning (SDTLs)
- Heads of School (Excel - 24.5KB)
- Personal Tutor's Handbook
- Centre for Staff Training and Development
- Counselling Services
- University Medical Practice
- Student Services Helpdesk
- Careers Advisory Service
- Study Advice
- Disability Office
Central communication for Personal Tutors is usually sent around to Senior Tutors via a mailing list. Senior Tutors are then expected to disseminate to Personal Tutors.
Personal Tutoring for taught postgraduates
Most Schools advise taught postgraduates that their Programme Director will act as a Personal Tutor although some Schools do allocate Personal Tutors to taught postgraduates in a similar manner to the way they allocate to undergraduates.
Each School should make their own position clear to taught postgraduates.
