Using Technology
CDoTL support the effective use of a range of technologies as well as explore and evaluate the
potential of new technologies to enhance learning and teaching. e-Learning (or technology-enhanced learning) can support all aspects of teaching, learning, assessment and feedback and as such has a vital role to play in taking forward the University's strategic teaching and learning aims, as well as in improving the student experience.
We work with Schools and academic staff within their own context and activities on both the pedagogical and practical aspects of technology in order to take forward their own teaching enhancements.
We also support and assist staff to identify the most appropriate and effective available tools for interaction with their students (including the VLE Blackboard, RISIS and several other web-based resources and tools).
Keeping up to date with new and emerging technologies and exploring how these can be used to support and improve the learning experience is also a key part of work. This involves project and pilot work both within CDoTL and in partnership with Schools and other service providers.
We run staff development sessions (link), we support the sharing of innovation and good practice (link to case studies), and we provide a variety of resources (link).
