How CDoTL Can Help

There are various sources of external funding available for teaching and learning and other student-related projects. CDoTL can offer some support to staff in the development of bids, depending on the nature and scope of the proposal.

We can for example:

  • Discuss potential project ideas
  • Help identify sources of funding
  • Provide some feedback on draft proposals

Preparing bids

  • All staff considering submitting a bid should contact CDoTL as early as possible to discuss their ideas and must ensure Research & Enterprise are notified regarding budget planning.
  • T&L bids should meet at least one of the University's Teaching and Learning Enhancement Priorities 2011-2013 or be able to demonstrate an innovative and experimental approach that contributes to future T&L strategic direction.

Approving bids

  • Approval for bids is granted by the PVC (T&L) in consultation with Faculty Directors and other stakeholders as appropriat.

Submitting bids

  • Where a bid involves potential commitment of University funds, including existing staff time, either during or after the period of funding, the bid must be signed off by the Head of School of Head of Directorate of the principal investigator making the bid, including a statement about provision of resource from the School or Directorate, if any, during or after the period of funding.
  • Advice on budgets should be sought from Research & Enterprise (RES) as early as possible in the bidding process.
  • CDoTL advises staff to contact them as early as possible during the bidding process to ensure appropriate approvals and budget advice can be provided in a timely manner.
